NYX Cosmetics’ Lid Lingerie Eye Tint collection

NYX Cosmetics’ Lid Lingerie Eye Tint collection

There are three “subsets” of eye tint: these, the matte eye tints, and the “holographic” / interference eye tints. This set is my least favorite of the three. The colors are nice enough, but I prefer the look and effects of the matte eye tints. (I just wish that the mattes came in colors like Whimsy and Morning Sky!) I have four of these colors, and while they’re useful for travel, I think that I’ll only get the four...

Shiro Cosmetics / Detrivore’s Molag Bal

Shiro Cosmetics / Detrivore’s Molag Bal

A good neutral shade with just enough warmth and rose to be a unique brown. The color is a bit on the sheer side, and while it does build, I personally don’t love it when it does. I wear this over a brown base (like Kiko’s Rosy Brown shadow stick) and get good results and better opacity. It blends decently, but if it’s next to a deeper or brighter color, better to overspread Molag Bal and blend...

Maybelline’s FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in Rose Gold

Maybelline’s FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in Rose Gold

This is my favorite of these metallic highlighters from Maybelline. I don’t highlight my cheeks very often, but I love using this on my eyelids - either under the browbone, or on the outer crease fading to my temples.

Zoya’s Taryn

Zoya’s Taryn

This is very similar to the discontinued Zoya shade Lillith, except that Taryn has a faint hint of visual texture to it while Lillith was perfectly smooth. Taryn may also be a bit cooler than Lillith was. Taryn applies well, though it can tend to show brushstrokes at certain angles of the light.

BareMinerals’ Buxom Plumpline Lip Liners

BareMinerals’ Buxom Plumpline Lip Liners

I didn't jump on these when they came out because it seemed fairly costly, and the shade range didn't totally impress me. I finally tried one after I bought it one night while overnighting for work. The color applies pretty thickly, and the brush on the end of the pencil is definitely welcome. I line my lips, color in a little bit, then use the brush to spread the color evenly.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics’ Strange Old Shop

>This looks like a black or dark brown with a strong gold shimmer, and it acts like that; but the base shade is a midnight-navy. It’s a very rich, highly-saturated base shade, so a lighter application is the best bet - it will still lay down a pretty solid strip of color! Be careful when blending, because it is extremely pigmented.

Aromaleigh v2.1’s Marquess highlighter

Aromaleigh v2.1’s Marquess highlighter

Sold as a highlighter, this can be applied more heavily and work as a softer eyeshadow on fairer skintones, or over a lighter cream shadow base. I like using many of Aromaleigh’s highlighters and blushes as softer eyeshadows. They give me a softer color, usually with some interference effect; and they layer nicely over base colors like Kiko’s shadow sticks.
