Colourpop’s BFF Volumizing Mascara in Left on Red

Colourpop’s BFF Volumizing Mascara in Left on Red

Posted on Friday, at

I had a hard time getting most of the BFF Mascaras to hold onto my lashes, and there was a bit of transfer onto my lid; but this color was one of the shades where I most liked the effect. I eventually found that putting a coat of any of these mascaras over one coat of any waterproof mascara gave me better color adhesion and appearance. I love Wine O Clock, which is a deeper red; and some may feel...

This Matte X shade was released in early 2017. It’s a slightly softer midweight pink with cooler undertones. It has the typical Lippie Stix ease of application, but also - sadly - the lack of real longevity. (That’s mitigated somewhat by a good primer.)

Silver polishes? I’m totally there…except when they’re patchy, uneven, or slubby. This polish is all three. (Yay - not.) The formula is plain awful - thin, takes extra long to cure. Most of the polishes in this Mega Strength line don’t work well for me; but this one is truly abysmal.

Six topper or effects polishes. Most require at least three coats for full opacity, many do better with four, though one - That’s The Spirit - is both a deeper shade and gives me full coverage with just two coats. I initially had no interest in these because I don’t care for effects polishes. I prefer nail polishes that either can be used in stamping or freehand nail art, or are standalone manicure shades. That’s The Spirit...

Seven pink and purple creme-finish nail polishes - from medium-light to deep. The two brighter pinks aren’t quite neon, but they are the brightest shades in this group.

This looks like a lighter purple in the pot, but warms up slightly when applied. It’s still a cool color, but it could shift either way depending on what colors you wear with it. The coverage is fairly good, though I do prefer the appearance and ease of application when I mix a little bit of this eyeshadow with water.

This is a pearl finish, so the finish is the most visible element. Nevertheless, the orange base is softened but not completely hidden. Works nicely as an all-over lid shade, or possibly as a slightly deepened highlighter for folks with warmer undertones.

Milani Cosmetics’ Ludicrous Lights Duo Chrome Highlighter in Lollapa-blue-za

Milani Cosmetics’ Ludicrous Lights Duo Chrome Highlighter in Lollapa-blue-za

This shows up as a medium-size chunky blue glitter. This is definitely easier to see as festival- or costume-makeup than daily wear. I can’t even see me using this on my browbone - there’s very little base shade, and lots of the blue glitter. This reminded me strongly of NYX’s Arctic Crush, which is not a product that I ended up loving. One upside to this is that I think the glitter particles are small enough that...
