Makeup Revolution’s Iconic Smokey Redemption palette

Makeup Revolution’s Iconic Smokey Redemption palette

This is the first of the Redemption palettes to have official names for the colors. It’s a little nicer than me just calling them “1, 2, 3…” direct across the palette! The colors were half-and-half: greys/blacks, and softer near-neutrals. The pigmentation levels were fairly good for MUR Redemption palettes, though all of the colors - with the exception of the matte near-black - are mid-intensity. The matte shades all needed a more thorough application to get decent coverage - again, typical...

When I started swatching these colors, I noticed that many of them had the “sparse scattered shimmer” - I’m taking a wild guess here, and saying that the addition of the shimmer-particles is what pushed these into being “ooops” colors. I think this might have been a batch of Warboy - the red base is a bit light to have been a try at War of Five Armies. (But that’s all guesswork.)

An attractive-enough coolish pink with softened gold shimmer. I was hoping for a slightly cooler pink, though - something that leaned a little more purple. (Also something that was possibly a little more opaque.)

This and Rose Julep are the two lip creams that I actually reach for somewhat regularly. (I only have one tube of Mai Tai, and I’ve already put a bit of a dent in it. Not sure what I’ll do when this one is totally gone…since it was an LE shade.)

An interesting liner shade or accent color. Just enough gold for a good visual highlight, but the base color is definitely brown. I don’t know what actual color Shiro was trying to create, but I like the resulting color! (Sadly, this was part of the Hold My Beer collection, which was limited to begin with…and is now completely gone.)

I initially was interested in two of these colors. Then I got another one. Then another two…the only shade I didn’t get, before this collection was discontinued, was Toxacara. Osedax is a gorgeous color - I’m not sure why it wasn’t kept in the main MPZ lineup, unless one or more of the color additive/ingredients was discontinued.

The interference layer is pretty prominent. It doesn’t completely block the orange base color (which, thankfully, is NOT Cheeto-orange) but it definitely changes it. The top layer can lean gold, but it’s definitely greenish. I’m not sure that this color can be universally easily used, but if it is a color you like, grab it! The pigmentation is excellent, and it stays in place very well. I didn’t get staining when I went to remove this,...
